We had an AMAZINGLY successful spring book fair! Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible, from decorating to working to shopping! Through your support we were able to raise almost $6,000 in new reading material for our readers! Wooot!!!!!

Our Barnes & Noble Book Fair is here! Sunday, December 7th from noon till 5:00, come out to the Barnes & Noble at the Paddock shops and get into the holiday spirit! We will have special guest storytellers reading in the children’s section, an amazing performance by the Camden Chorus, treats for the kids and more! Remember to tell the cashier that you are supporting Camden Station when you make your purchases, as a percentage of the total sales from December 7th and 8th will be returned to our school in the form of new books for our library! Come cross some items off that holiday shopping list, and support Camden Station students at the same time! See you there 🙂

One Sunday, December 7th Camden Station will host a Holiday Storytelling Festival in conjunction with Barnes & Noble at the Paddock! Some of our Camden staff will be on hand to read aloud to little ones while parents, friends and neighbors can shop for books, games, gifts- anything you might need this holiday season. As a thank you, Barnes & Noble will donate a portion of the sales made supporting Camden Station right back to our school in the form of new books! Tell your family and friends to shop Barnes & Noble (December 7th and 8th), just mention Camden Station at the time of purchase, and a percentage of the sale will go directly to our school! Our Scholastic Book Fair was a tremendous success- thank you! Our library was transformed into a magical kingdom of reading, and it was made extra special by sharing a breakfast with loved ones. We would like to extend a special thank you to those parents who helped us make our book fair great- from helping to set up and the fabulous decorations, to assisting with sales in the mornings, to breaking it all down and packing it up- we couldn’t do it without you! Several of our teachers will be participating in our Barnes & Noble Holiday Storytelling Festival on Sunday, December 7, 2014! Watch for a schedule coming soon to see who our special guest readers will be. In addition, for any purchases made on December 7th or 8th supporting Camden Station Elementary, Barnes & Noble will give a percentage back in the form of new books for our school. Please tell your friends and family to come support Camden Station if they are shopping for books, gifts or other holiday needs at Barnes & Noble 🙂
We want all of our students to gain confidence as a reader while learning to love literature! To help facilitate finding a book that will help them grow while simultaneously helping them to experience success in reading, we encourage looking for “just right” books. Just right books are not too hard, not to easy but just right! Some classes have discussed the 5 Finger Rule:
Other classes use a 3 finger rule, or read a few pages with the teacher to determine if the book is a good fit. Ask your child about the library book they have selected to bring home, and spend some time reading together!
